This policy covers the sites we operate — mahope.tools, cleancopy.tools and deskuptime.com — and the products we publish from them: Clean Copy (Chrome and Firefox extensions, Obsidian plugin), DeskUptime (desktop app and CLI), Page Profile, the EAA accessibility scanner and Site Icons. bugbottle.dev is built and hosted separately and has its own notice; see below.

The short version

• No accounts, no cookies, no cross-site tracking. Visits are counted with cookieless, EU-hosted Plausible Analytics.
• The tools run on your machine. What you scan, copy or clean stays with you.
• What we do store is listed below, in full, with how long it is kept.
• We never see your card details. Stripe handles those.

Page views

Each page records an anonymous count against the page's own URL. The count carries no IP address, no cookie and no identifier that follows you to another site, so we cannot tell who you are from it. Aggregate page and event counters expire after 90 days.

To keep the counter honest we store a short-lived hash of the request for rate limiting. It is deleted after two hours and is never used for anything else. If your browser sends Do Not Track: 1, the request is dropped before anything is written.

We also count visits with Plausible Analytics, running on our own server in the EU at analytics.holstjensen.eu. It sets no cookies and stores no IP address. To tell unique visitors apart within one day it uses a hash of the IP address, the browser's user agent, the site and a salt that is rotated and deleted every 24 hours, so a visitor cannot be recognised the next day or across sites. What we see is aggregate: which pages were read, where visitors came from (referrer), and country, browser and device type. No data is shared with or sold to anyone.

Waitlist and email

When you sign up for a waitlist, we store the email address you type and the page you signed up from. The address is the key, so signing up twice does not create a second entry. Entries expire after 365 days. We use the list to tell you when something you asked for is ready — nothing else.

When you buy something, Stripe gives us the email on the order. We use it to deliver your license key or download link, to send the receipt, and for our accounting. Order and license mail is sent through our email provider, Resend. Replies go to the support address for the product's own domain, and the order number is looked up together with a hash of your email address.

Licenses

Paid tools check their license online against a license endpoint on mahope.tools. That check sends your license key and a device identifier — a random value the app generates for the machine or browser profile it runs on, not a hardware serial number. The tools work offline if the check cannot complete, and a temporary answer is cached for a short period so a server outage does not lock you out.

We do not create an account for you. The license key and its device identifiers are the whole record of what you bought.

Bug reports

If you choose to send a bug report through the form on our sites, the report text and the page you sent it from are stored so we can reproduce and fix the problem, and an email with the report is sent through Resend. The BugBottle demo on mahope.tools keeps reports in a public inbox, so anything you send there is readable on that page by anyone who opens it. Please do not put anything sensitive in a public report form.

Your tools, your data

Clean Copy, DeskUptime, Page Profile and the scanners process content and URLs entirely on your device. No scanned URL, copied text, scan result or file is uploaded to us. Those apps make network requests only to the sites you ask them to check, plus the license check described above.

Third parties

We use Stripe for payments, Resend for transactional email and Cloudflare for hosting and storage. Each of them processes data under its own policy. We do not sell or share your data with anyone for advertising, and we do not run ads.

Your choices

Ask us to delete your waitlist entry, your order record or a stored bug report and we will do it. Write to the address below from the same email address, and include the order number if it concerns a purchase.
